About the Event
What is somatic movement?
Somatic movement is connecting with your body and developing a deeper understanding of how you move. These movement flows are great for relieving tension and aches associated with prolonged sitting, standing or repetitive tasks. With your new awareness you can make different movement choices and move through life with more ease and vitality.
Based on the principles of Hanna Somatic Education, these gentle somatic yoga movements use 'pandiculations' to help the brain/muscle pathway remember it's connection and re-pattern itself. Pandiculation is a controlled and gentle contraction and release of a muscle to help re-set and re-activate optimum muscular function.
When you let go of the patterns that are no longer useful you allow more life and energy into your body. Through gentle pandiculations coupled with guided breath and body awareness you will come away feelng deeply relaxed.
Please bring a towel and a yoga mat.
This class is suitable for general, healthy participants. If you have any injury, are pregnant or have a health concern that may be affected by movement or exercise (especially spinal injury or disc herniation/bulge), please contact me and seek clearance from your health care provider before participating.
